I'm against safety cars because a safety car reduces the gaps to nothing, making the previous laps useless. Imagine that, in football, the score was reset to 0-0 each time an injured player is taken out of the field. Well, the safety car procedure is as stupid as that. Especially if the overlapped cars are allowed to overtake the safety car. If, during Indy500, the safety car pits in definitely with 5 laps to go, don't call this Indy500 but Indy12.5. What' the best thing to do in case of a serious crash, then ? According to me, wave the red flag and, for each driver, add up all his laptimes (before the red flag and after the restart) in order to find out the winner. Non-spectacular ? Confusing ?
