Best Battery Powered Chainsaw Brand? Let's find out! Milwaukee vs DeWalt, Makita, Ryobi & WORX

  • Julkaistu Uukausi sitten

    kesto: 19:49

Let's test 5 brands of lithium battery powered chainsaws: Brands tested: Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita, Ryobi, and Worx. All of the chainsaws compared against each other and against a 16-inch Stihl MS 170 gasoline chainsaw. The chainsaws competed in 3 tests which include 2 cutting speed tests on 4x4 lumber and one test on hardwood. All of the saws were also tested for battery charge time, no-load run time, noise level, and no-load sprocket/chain speed.
An easy way to find past videos along with products tested: bit.ly/2FCrBpk A big thanks to Jim for putting this together.
I purchase all of the chainsaws to ensure unbiased reviews. Thank you very much for supporting the channel: www.patreon.com/projectfarm

Publishing a day early this week again to see if it continues to work well. I’m definitely going to put together a round 2 video to include the saws made by “outdoor equipment” manufacturers, like Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo, etc and compare them to the brands just tested. Which brands should I test? Never a sponsor and I always buy everything tested. So, thank you all very much for supporting the channel and for your video ideas! Also, a big thank you to Jim for putting together a quick access video library, which includes a list of products tested. http://bit.ly/2FCrBpk

Nice write up. I might add that the Milwaukee is a torque motor and responds well to using the leverage of the dogs regardless of the slower chain speed. Thanks again👍

I'm not sure why you used the cheapest stihl saw. That is normally only used with a 12 inch bar. A stihl around the mid range of the prices of the battery saws would've been fairer

Man what a great video my brother-in-law has rotator cuff issues in is looking for a battery powered chainsaw. He is always been a stihl Owner and asked my opinion. I told him honestly I didn't know and I would try to find out. I would like to see the stihl, Vs makita vs DE Walt,vs ego! I am a husqvarna man,so I don't know if they make a battery operated. Either way at least now I can give him some info. He just needs it for around the house, small task. Hes getting older and does not like to depend on anybody. I believe it's a pride issue, Always willing to help him but from one man to another I understand where hes coming from. Thank you again for your video I will definitely pass this along..

Thanks for all your reviews. I would love to see battery powered hedge trimmers. I bought a Green works 24 inch 18 volt from a store that sells buyouts and returned items 3 years ago for $30.00. I was amazed at the power and endurance of it. I threw away my gas powered heavy back breaker. The green works cuts easier and much heavier branches than my old gas Homelite did on its best day.

Well they say gas like power, I’d say compare them to a more powerful gas powered chainsaw. From what I can tell the one that you used wasn’t even close to the most powerful chainsaw that stihl offers. Test it with this one next time https://www.acehardware.com/departments/lawn-and-garden/outdoor-power-equipment/chainsaws/7000550?store=16750&source=google&medium=cpc&gclid=Cj0KCQiAzZL-BRDnARIsAPCJs72Qyn51hLR-NUuozO6_pv6714hjy5WkhsnaS_EZ_ZnZjzEYCLeUitkaAkLtEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I would love to see an electric lawn mower test. I’v used a stihl one. The battery on them won’t do a big lawn and unless the grass is kept short then the battery won’t last the medium sized lawn. I can tell that it use some sort of variable speed to save power, it seems to increase power if there is more resistance on the blade. So begs the question witch electric lawn mower is best???

I know I already commented this on another video but you should definitely do a true awesome unbiased video like you always do comparing standard corded table saws and their power compared to Milwaukee and Dewalts new cordless table saws. Also maybe score each based on safety equipment (blade guards, riving knives, anti kickback devices) and their actual feasibility. This could be sketchy too, but maybe finding a safe way to demonstrate table saw kickback and see which saws sustain the least overall damage and safeness for the users. Same with miter saws maybe too, your videos are always in-depth and give true results. Keep em comming

Great job again on this video maybe as a comparison to show the whole range of tool parts like 2.0. Battery being lowest rated from every manufacturer and subsequently the highest rated from each manufacturer & do a across the board comparison of transmission/motor type and wear/battery run loaded & unloaded times- as well as charge and discharge rates. Think maybe getting the same chain across the board would be fair also. This covers all the but if's!!!! Keep up the great work! The Tool Doctor

Thank you for your videos! I find them very informative & helpful. I really appreciate your straight to the point style. Respectfully though, I just watched this one for fun, as they all, except the gas saw, might as well say "PLAY-SKOOL" on the side really! I realize the video was comparing specifically "Battery powered saws" but in all honesty, If your doing a comparison of saws to inform your viewers as to the best tool for a job, it would be MUCH more helpful to show how they compare to their predecessors. By that, I mean showing how many cuts they can make before running out of fuel (gas or battery), Cost of replacement fuel long term ( number of cuts through known thickness of wood /per full tank or battery X the number of recharges the manufacturer states the battery is good for before replacement (for the electric) & compare that to the cost of gas to get the same number of cuts using gas. Realistically the battery operated saws simply are simply NOT yet anywhere even close to the power, efficiency, value, quality, durability, & ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS of gas powered saws. Truth is gas saws today are more powerful & fuel efficient, environmentally responsible than they ever have been. When one takes into account the HUGE additional manufacturing costs and pollutants needed to make the batteries and the plastics for batt powered saws, they are FAR worse polluters than gas saws. If your really trying to use your ch. to help your viewers get better value & quality from their purchases, please do what you can to wake them up to the truth about the war against the quality, efficient tools that WE ALREADY HAVE AVAILABLE. Someday batt powered saws will be good enough to replace gas powered saws, but we are simply not there yet. With economies crashing world wide due to covid & every dollar needing to stretch even farther than ever before, wouldn't it help to your 1.2 million plus viewers more to show them a bit more "functionality over popularity" perspective? You are in a position to help people. Thank you for considering this suggestion. :) K. P.S. For the record I DO NOT work for ANY saw manufacturer gas or electric. I just an informed pragmatist. :-)

I have a small still chain saw about 12 inch cutting surface. I use it for fallen tree on my property. On one charge it’ll cut approximately 4-5 trees at a diameter of a dinner plate that around 25-30 feet most trees are dead ash and Lucas trees! It’s easy to operate and has a chain tightening turner. Easy to operate for someone like me that doesn’t use a fuel using chainsaw. I may only use it a few times a year unless there’s a wind storm or something. I like it for this use because I have a hard time starting and maintaining a two cycle! I’ve had it 3 years and had the chain sharpened 2 times! So I like it!
