@timomastosalo that’s what I mean last season he just takes 2 or 3 big strides then glides, now it seems like he’s learnt how to take off with quick strides then use is big strides going down the ice. It’s a very small but crucial adjustment, this will make him a little quicker to be able to create his own goals like that guy in Washington lol

He can skate, fast too. He just has that long stride of a tall guy. He's perhaps not the best in starting the skating, but when he gets going, he's fast enough.

they talk about his deceptive speed, but he got caught by the backchecker. the first shot attempt wasn't a flub, it was a primeau stick lift from the backchecker. Laine does well to get a second attempt off tho, and finds the net. Good for him, but speed maybe isn't the thing to gush on here
